Jan 1, 2017- Nepal Telecom (NT) has launched fourth generation (4G) telecom service in Kathmandu and Pokhara valleys from Sunday. NT also became the first telecommunication service provider to begin the 4G service in the country.
Information and Communication Minister Surendra Karki launched the service amid a special programme in Kathmandu today.
NT said the service will be available in selected locations of the two valleys. But it has not disclosed the exact locations where the new generation of telecom service will be available.
NT currently has around 13.3 million GSM mobile phone subscribers. However the service is available only for postpaid subscribers.
For time being, NC will charge the same cost as 3G service for the newly-launched 4G service.
Postpaid users have to dial *444# to start the service.
